Yes, it's fete time once more on the lovely lawns of Holcombe Court – thank you. Nigel. The fete makes an important contribution to the funding of our parish church which exists, not just for the 'regulars' but to be available for all of us to celebrate the important events of our lives.

To make the fete the success it traditionally is, the stalls need your contributions, please. The people to contact are:

Attractions

A traditional village fete in a superb country setting – the private grounds of one of the South West’s finest Tudor mansions. Stalls of all sorts, sideshows, beautiful gardens, Devon teas, Tiverton Town Band

The Setting

Holcombe Rogus Fete is held on the lawns of Holcombe Court, making the event a unique opportunity for the fetegoer. This mansion, rated by Pevsner as 'perhaps the finest Tudor house in Devon', is privately owned and rarely open to the public. Fetegoers come year after year to explore the beautifully restored gardens: formal and informal lawns with original Tudor fishponds; a modern take on the Victorian rock garden; a wooded grove with ponds; lovely herbaceous borders and a walled formal modern vegetable garden with yew hedges and fruit. It all makes for a not-to-be-missed experience.

M5 Jct 27 8 minutes; Wellington 10 minutes; Tiverton, Bampton 15 minutes; Taunton, Exeter 20 minutes This pretty village lies 1 mile north of the A38 between Wellington and M5 Jct 27 (A361 North Devon Link).  Turn off end of A38 dual carriageway at Whiteball Hill

Would you like to be a better listener?

Age UK Mid Devon is holding a 1 day training session for anyone who would like to improve their listening skills. Effective listening is a vital skill for carers, volunteers, friends and relatives. The event costs £20 and will be held at Beck House Tiverton on December 3. Sponsored Walk – Friends of Grand Western Canal

The Friends of the Grand Western Canal are organising a sponsored walk on 13th April from Tiverton basin to the Barge pub at Halberton. We have set a target to increase the rescue Fund to £20,000 by November to buy a tug and two silt barges to assist the Rangers when they are undertaking dredging works etc. These craft will save time and money and make a significant contribution to the long-term sustainability of the canal. Tiverton Freecycle Events in March

GIVE or TAKE  - Free Event in Tiverton

  Bring along and GIVE your unwanted items and TAKE away anything you can use.   Sustainable Villages (part of the Transition Movement) are holding a ‘Freecycle’ event in Tiverton Market on March 5th, 7th, 8th and 9th.from 10am – 2pm as part of Climate Week. During those days people can bring along any items that are still useable -except clothes and take away free anything that catches their eye that they can use. It is completely free. You don’t have to bring something to take something. The aim is to avoid things going into landfill or people having to buy new items. Any large items and electrical items can be advertised with the owners contact details on a display board
