Thank you to everyone who attended the Christmas Fair at the Village Hall on 3rd December. I hope the stallholders felt it was a success and that the visitors had a good time and made some useful purchases. The Hall was busy all day and there was a steady stream of customers for refreshments. My thanks to the committee members who organised the event, and to the people who donated raffle prizes or cakes, helped in the kitchen or in the Hall. This year the proceeds of £395.45 will all go to Hall funds as we have some costly improvements in the pipeline. We plan to continue to run the Fair and hope to see you on the first Saturday in December 2017.
As I'm sure you know Holcombe Rogus Village Hall has been undergoing a bit of a facelift. New toilets, new lighting and redecoration. Sheila Muir and the Village Hall Committee would like to thank everyone who has given up some time to help. Thanks too to John Helliwell for installing the superb new lighting and the team from Colman Building Contractors. The number of volunteers who gave up their time to help with the decoration and cleaning was really impressive and there were too many to mention them all here. A massive thank you from the committee and from your community for all your efforts. I'm sure you'll agree that it's a big improvement.
At the recent Village Hall Committee AGM the committee agreed 2 priorities:
- To finalise the plans for redeveloping the toilets and commission the necessary work.
- To arrange for minor work and redecoration to be carried out inside the hall, ideally using volunteer labour from village residents.
